Welcome to the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich, the leading Swiss museum for design and visual communication. Founded in 1875, the museum is the only Swiss institution to have collected objects that represent everyday design culture as well as artistically more ambitious exhibits. Its collection unites more than 500,000 objects and consists of the four departments Decorative Arts, Design, Graphics, and Posters, with the latter being the most extensive archive of its kind in the world. At two locations in Zurich – on Ausstellungsstrasse and in the Toni-Areal – the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich invites the public to dive into the fascinating world of design and graphics. A wide-ranging educational program focuses on the areas of design education, participatory exhibition practice, and cultural participation. Beyond the physical exhibition space, the museum also addresses issues and provides resources in the digital world, to promote public engagement with the past, present and future of design.
