Sebastian Wells, OSTKREUZ photographer and editor of the magazine soлomiya, discusses with the photographers Mila Teshaieva and Daniil Russov.
„It’s not about photography, it’s about me, my place, my history and the history of the entire world which is currently happening here,“ wrote Mila Teschaieva in her war diary’s first entry on the 3rd of march 2022, shortly after Russia began invading Ukraine. How does one react as a photographer in Ukraine, when suddenly a war, for many unimaginable, begins. How does one see the point in photography when, suddenly, close friends fall victim to missle attacks? And how is one to carry one, when the suffered shock of war begun recedes into the distance while there’s no end in sight.
