September 2016 den Blick auf die wirkungsmächtige Bilderwelt des antiken Athen und dessen Riten, Opfer, Prozessionen und Feste. Anhand von über 100 bedeutsamen Leihgaben aus der ganzen Welt wird der Mythos Athens, der Mythos der Stadtgöttin Athena und ihres Sohnes Erechtheus erzählt.

The special exhibition “Athens: The Triumph of Imagery”, to take place at the Liebieghaus Skulpturensammlung from 4 May to 4 September 2016, devotes to the powerful pictorial world of classical Athens and provide vivid insights into its rites, sacrifices, processions and festivals. With the aid of more than one hundred prominent loans from all over the world, the show recounts the myth of Athens, its goddess Athena and her son Erechtheus.
