Marina Pinsky explores how images can be interpreted as material, spatial, and ideological representations of the world. Her work in the exhibition „Genossin Sonne“ can be seen as an embodiment of time. The piece titled „July 15th, 2015“ overlays a network map of the internet with a map of the zodiac signs from the day the work was created. Through this, Pinsky acknowledges the futility of such mapping or charting, as the map would become outdated within a single day. The reflective nature of time in the work is highlighted by the specific date. July 14th is celebrated as France’s national day, Bastille Day, marking the French Revolution when Parisians famously destroyed clocks, symbolically stopping time and ending the old world order. Instead of celebrating this historical event, Pinsky’s clock commemorates the following day, July 15th, signifying the continuation of time but under a new social order and progress.
